Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Carbonic Maceration Rioja Tempranillo 2019
Abel was one of our best visits while living in Rioja (still the first contact on my agenda) and the visit to his home winery was epic. The Jarrarte was the start of an amazing journey and to be fair with you it is hard to find wines of this quality for the price. Abel is one of the rare gems, he is definitely a character and will love telling you about all those wines he tasted without telling his wife(Maite) of the cost, a DRC with an omelet... Beautiful, juicy, unpretentious; a great definition of what Rioja is nowadays! it was hard finding this in OZ, so enjoy it! Pedro.
I love the floral, perfumed and expressive nose of the 2019 Jarrarte Maceración Carbónica, which seems to transcend the process that tends to mark wines with predictable aromas, showing a lot more serious and nuanced. It was produced following the tradition of fermenting full clusters in open concrete pools. The wine is juicy and has a velvety palate with great purity of flavors and a dry and serious, somewhat chalky finish. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled unoaked in August 2020. 92Pts - Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

Antoniotti Coste della Sesia 2022
A graceful Nebbiolo from the Antoniotti family, custodians of centuries of winemaking in the hills of northern Piemonte whose roots trace back to 1861. The 2022 Coste della Sesia is born on sun‑kissed slopes above the Sesia river where Nebbiolo and a hint of Croatina are hand harvested and gently vinified to reveal the true voice of the vineyard. Aromas of wild cherry, violet and soft spice rise from the glass while the palate unfolds bright acidity, fine tannins and a subtle mineral edge. A wine of clarity and elegance that carries the memory of the land and the care of generations.
